Situated on the south side of the Muskegon Lake Channel near beautiful Lake Michigan, the GLNMM has been the home of the World War II submarine USS Silversides since 1987. In addition to the Silversides, the GLNMM is also home to the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter McLane, a Prohibition-era Coast Guard Cutter that is one of the last of its class in existence. The Great Lakes Naval Memorial and Museum (GLNMM) is a 501(c)(3) Non-profit museum located in Muskegon, Michigan.

Ever wonder what it is like to sleep on a World War II submarine? Try the GLNMM’s Overnight Encampment Program! One of the most popular attractions at the GLNMM is the Overnight Encampment Program aboard USS Silversides. The Overnight Program is open to anyone over the age of 5 and is great fun for families, school groups, scouting groups, church groups, reunions, history enthusiasts, and many more! The GLNMM is taking Overnight reservations aboard USS Silversides and USCGC McLane throughout the year with weekend dates filling up quickly. Call today to schedule your Overnight on the sub!

Looking for something different? The GLNMM also has an Underwater Robotics Program where children and adults of any age and background can design, build, and operate a fully functional Remotely Operated Vehicle, or ROV. The basic Underwater ROV class takes as little as two hours and requires no previous experience with robotics or electronics. The ROV program can be a great choice for school groups looking for a fun, and educational field trip that meets the State of Michigan’s education standards for multiple grades.
